Organizace pro pomoc uprchlíkům (Organisation for Aid to Refugees, shortly OPU), founded in 1991, is the oldest and largest refugee and immigrant aid organisation in the Czech Republic with focus on legal and social aid to disadvantaged groups in refugee and immigrant population, such as unaccompanied minors, victims of sexual and gender based violence, stateless persons, single mothers with small children or LGBT refugees. OPU has excellent expertise in legal representation before administrative bodies and at courts and social aid including integration of disadvanted groups on the labor market. OPU also employs professionals working in the areas of education on asylum, migration, human rights and xenophobia issues. OPU has been always benefiting from the help of dedicated volunteers organised in two main programs – long-term mentorship program and short-term one off events in refugee camps and larger cities. OPU is managed by the Executive Director who is supervised by the OPU management board consisting of four experts.
